“Focused determination in Samadhi meditation never develops in those whose minds are confused and attached to material enjoyment and opulence”
Commentary
Samadhi is the eighth and final step mentioned by Sage Patanjali in yoga sutras. It is the ecstatic yoga meditation in which man dissolves all forces of Nature into the ever-existing, ever-conscious and ever-new Bliss of God.
Even an advanced yogi may enjoy the blissful state of Samadhi yet finds himself unable to maintain this state permanently. He is drawn down again into ego and body consciousness by past karma. Mind and body magnetically pull away the devotee from deep states of meditation into material consciousness for familiar sense enjoyments. Through constant efforts and strong determination, the yogi finally achieves liberation triumphantly.
