Commentary
Yoga, hailed as the supreme science, serves as a path guiding individuals toward transcendent states of consciousness. This timeless wisdom of yoga was bestowed upon Vivasvat by Lord Krishna, and it remained a sacred tradition practiced by luminaries such as Manu, Ikshvaku, and revered Rishis, as well as saintly monarchs like Janaka. However, over time, this invaluable knowledge was lost to the ages.
Scholars suggest that around 3100 B.C., the descending cycle of Dwapara Yuga commenced, marking the onset of Kali Yuga in 700 B.C. Within the vast cycle of Brahma’s day, spanning 24,000 years, each arc—ascending and descending—extends for 12,000 years. The ascent of the ascending arc began with the dawn of the scientific revolution in the 17th century, heralding a resurgence of yoga practices worldwide.
While the wheels of Samsara continue their perpetual rotation, the wise endeavor to liberate themselves from the cycle of reincarnation at the earliest opportunity.
