“Just as the all-pervading sky remains untainted due to its subtle nature, similarly, the soul, situated everywhere within the body, remains untainted.”
Commentary
Lord Krishna draws an analogy between the untainted nature of the soul and the all-pervading sky. He states that just as the vast expanse of the sky remains unaffected by any impurities or limitations due to its subtle and expansive nature, the soul, which is present throughout the body, remains untainted by external influences.
The comparison with the sky highlights the vastness and pervasive nature of the soul. It suggests that the soul transcends the limitations of the physical body and exists everywhere within it. Regardless of the different states and conditions of the body, the soul remains untouched and unaffected.
The soul is inherently pure and free from any contamination. It is not subject to the changing circumstances, experiences, or actions performed through the body or mind. The soul’s true nature is eternal, unchanging, and beyond the realm of material influences.
By using this analogy, the Lord aims to convey the message that individuals should recognize their true essence as the untainted soul and not allow themselves to be affected or identified solely with the external circumstances or temporary aspects of the physical body.
