Verse 2-30

देही नित्यमवध्योऽयं देहे सर्वस्य भारत |

तस्मात्सर्वाणि भूतानि न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि || 30 ||

“O Arjuna, the One who dwells in the bodies of all is immortal and remains unchanged. Therefore, do not grieve for anyone.”

Commentary

The seekers of the Divine strike a delicate balance between sensitivity and detachment. Recognizing the transient nature of material existence, they refrain from seeking lasting happiness in ephemeral pursuits. This wisdom fosters profound empathy and compassion towards those ensnared by suffering, devoid of the understanding of life’s impermanence.

In the awareness of the eternal and immortal nature of the Divine, the devotee finds solace amidst the ebb and flow of life’s vicissitudes. Understanding that it is the divine will that bestows and, in due course, withdraws our loved ones, gratitude wells up for the cherished moments shared with them. Therefore, lamenting excessively over the inexorable laws governing the ever-changing cosmic dance merely inflicts needless anguish upon oneself, diverting attention from immediate duties and responsibilities.
