Commentary

If a soldier neglects his duty to defend his country or if a devotee shirks from the spiritual battle to safeguard inner peace, they shall bear the burden of sorrowful consequences. The essence of the Bhagavad Gita resonates universally, for life presents myriad opportunities for righteous combat. Businesspersons contend against unethical rivals; students grapple with temptation and the allure of negative influences; spouses combat inner demons to preserve marital harmony and avoid disillusionment. Indeed, every individual confronts the relentless onslaught of fluctuating moods and the insatiable cravings of the mind, requiring steadfast self-discipline.

Yet, therein lies the beauty of the Gita’s teachings—they transcend temporal boundaries, offering guidance in the face of life’s myriad challenges. By courageously engaging in these righteous battles, mental and moral fortitude are honed to ever greater degrees, fortifying the individual against future trials and temptations.
