Verse 4-23

यज्ञायाचरत: कर्म समग्रं प्रविलीयते || 23 ||

“One who performs all actions as a sacrifice, who is free from attachments and whose intellect is established in divine wisdom is freed from all karma”

Commentary Every life is a sacrifice to another life form in the revolving cycle of evolution. In return for the physical body and its capabilities, humans offer actions in the world. Good karma leads to material benefits like health, money, house, better relationships etc. Even good karma has to be extinguished as a sacrifice through ‘enjoyment’ of such material benefits. Good and bad karma karma are bondages in gold and iron chains. How can one escape these dualities of good and bad karma? By offering every action and experience inwardly to God, divine wisdom is established and one becomes free from bondage.

Renunciation is the quality of making an inward sacrifice or offering to God. This quality has to be developed and practiced properly under the guidance of a Guru. It cannot be subjectively interpreted or acted upon from personal belief systems, traditions, habits and culture. Just as the law of gravitation is eternal, absolute and does not change whether one believes or understands it, Truth is also Absolute without dualities.
