Verse 4-25

दैवमेवापरे यज्ञं योगिन: पर्युपासते |

ब्रह्माग्नावपरे यज्ञं यज्ञेनैवोपजुह्वति || 25 ||

“For him who is completely absorbed in God-consciousness, the oblation is Brahman, the ladle with which it is offered is Brahman, the act of offering is Brahman, and the sacrificial fire is also Brahman. Such a person views everything as God and easily attains Him.”

Commentary: The Lord explains different ways that aspiring yogis make sacrifices and offerings to God. Some make sacrifices by offering material things. Others try to merge their individual spark of life in the fire of Spirit in meditation.

The act of sacrifice is an important element in all religions. Prophets and saints have included this important philosophy to bring change in human behavior. Sacrifice can be done by offering service, material things and even one’s own unworthy habits and desires. This increases the heart’s capacity to include family, neighbors, animals, things and all species as self. Sacrifice is an act of sharing, caring and loving everyone. It breaks down narrow mental barriers and expands a consciousness of inclusion – a shared responsibility and accountability that all are important members of one family (Vasudaika Kutumbam).
