“Having achieved enlightenment from a Guru, O Arjuna, you will no longer fall into delusion. In the light of that wisdom, you will see that all creation is within Me.”

Commentary: Humans are empowered with powers of will, intelligence, reasoning and emotion to seek the Truth of their own existence and the creation. When basic success, good health, reasonable wealth and desired human love are achieved, man questions to himself, “What next?”. The decision at this phase of life decides the fate of his future births. Normally one of two results happen – first is where he becomes complacent in his achievements and spends the rest of his life just getting along with a mixed feeling of contentment and boredom i.e., content in various activities of family and society; immersed in sense pleasures like movies, music, travel and other hobbies to fix boredom. The second result is where he becomes greedy to have more and more possessions. These two paths initiate a chain of events that have repercussions for future births. The wise person however chooses the middle path at this stage of life (usually after responsibilities toward parents and children are complete) where he embarks on a spiritual journey to understand the mystery of his own existence asking the right questions, “who am I?, what is birth? what is death? who created my body, mind and intellect?”. One who reforms himself spiritually can provide the highest service to the society compared to any other kind of service but the journey is difficult and filled with struggles till the right Guru is found. Without struggle, there is no birth of new levels of consciousness. Every change and transformation, of life and in life, is a struggle. Although corrupt people are there in every profession, spirituality has a larger share of them because it is not based on objective and scientifically verifiable experience. Therefore saints are neither readily available nor reachable. Finding the right Guru is an effort that is worth the wait. When such a Guru imparts wisdom, in the light of that divine knowledge, the devotee meets his Creator.
