“Shutting out all external sensations, with the gaze fixed on the space between the eye-brows, equalizing the flow of the incoming and outgoing breath in the nostrils, and thus controlling the senses, mind, and intellect, the sage who becomes free from desire, fear and anger, wins complete freedom”

Commentary : Keeping aside all abstractions, Lord Krishna points out in this verse the science of Yoga where the sage fixes his gazes at the Kutastha or the point between the eyebrows and withdraws the currents from the sensory nerves to shut down all external sensations. The exact process of sleep is replicated voluntarily. After getting command over the life forces, the sage equalizes incoming and outgoing breath. Thus, attaining neutrality, the heart has no further requirement to pump carbon dioxide out because the sage feeds directly on the cosmic current instead of oxygen. In this state of fiery self-control and absolute devotion, all previous karmic seeds of desires, fears and anger are roasted to ashes and the vibrationless God is experienced in different manifestations. For those earnestly seeking to embark on the path of yoga but lack proper guidance, fervent prayers to the Divine for the blessing of a Guru are paramount. A genuine Guru, whether embodied or not, possesses the wisdom and insight to steer a sincere seeker toward liberation. Persistence in prayer and dedication to the spiritual journey are essential for attracting the guidance and grace of a Guru.
