“O Madhusudana, due to my restless nature, I am unable to perceive the steady and equalizing effect of yoga that you described.”
Commentary: After hearing Lord Krishna, Arjuna said he was still unable to comprehend the effects of yoga because of his restless and unsteady mind. Arjuna was a mighty warrior who did intense penance and attained many celestial weapons. He had great knowledge of warfare and won many battles. Despite such historic feats, Arjuna lowered his head and honestly shared his imperfections to Lord Krishna.
There is strength in surrender to God because there is a strong will to come out of darkness and change forever. There is deep trust that God will help to overcome external situations and internal imperfections. The responsibility of outcomes is completely handed over to God. The devotee stops worshiping his little ego’s pride, vanity, pomposity, self-glory and arrogance. He bows down to the omniscient God as a loving and devoted child.
In order to overcome a difficult situation, one must seek help from God, well-wishers and professional consultants, not just for physical ailments but also for mental and emotional ailments. Help has to be sought because life is short, uncertain yet has a great potential.
Prayer:
‘God, I need help. In the refinery of life, pulverize the ore of my ego and melt all the impurities with the fires of your blessings. Mix me with the alloys of humility, devotion and self-control. I will also apply high pressure with the constant heat of my own will power. Let me arise from the ashes of my own imperfections and transform myself into pure gold, that I may humbly lie at your feet as a jewel among the jewels of your beloved devotees’.
