Verse 10-24

पुरोधसां च मुख्यं मां विद्धि पार्थ बृहस्पतिम् |

सेनानीनामहं स्कन्द: सरसामस्मि सागर: || 24 ||

“Know me, O Arjuna, as the chief among priests, Brihaspati. Among the generals, I am Skanda (Kartikeya), and among bodies of water, I am the ocean.”
 
Commentary:

Lord Krishna continues to reveal his divine manifestations to Arjuna, highlighting his presence in various significant entities and roles.

 

Brihaspati: Lord Krishna identifies himself as Brihaspati, the chief among priests and the guru of the gods. Brihaspati is associated with wisdom, knowledge, and divine guidance. By proclaiming himself as Brihaspati, Lord Krishna signifies his role as the ultimate source of spiritual guidance and enlightenment.

 

Skanda: Lord Krishna reveals that he is Skanda, also known as Kartikeya or Subrahmanya, among the generals or commanders. Skanda is the son of Lord Shiva and the leader of the celestial army. He represents valor, courage, and victory. By identifying himself as Skanda, Lord Krishna asserts his presence in martial prowess and the ability to lead armies to success.

 

The Ocean: Lord Krishna declares himself as the ocean among bodies of water. The ocean is vast, deep, and powerful, symbolizing the immense expanse of water on Earth.
