“One who does not disturb the world, and who is not disturbed by the world,
Who is free from pleasure, envy, fear, and anxiety – such a person is dear to me.”
Commentary: Lord Krishna describes additional qualities of a person who is dear to Him. The verse emphasizes the importance of maintaining equanimity in the face of worldly experiences. It states that those who do not cause disturbance to others and are not themselves disturbed by external circumstances are highly cherished by the Lord.
The term “udvijate” means “to disturb” or “to agitate.” Lord Krishna explains that a person who remains unaffected by the ups and downs of life, who is free from attachment to transient joys and unaffected by envy, fear, and anxiety, holds a special place in His heart.
The Lord encourages individuals to cultivate a state of inner peace, resilience, and detachment from external outcomes. It highlights the value of maintaining a balanced and serene mind amidst the fluctuations of life. Such an individual, who remains steady and composed in the face of challenges, is regarded as dear to the Lord.
