“O Arjuna, Know Me also as the knower of the field (kshetrajna) in all fields. The knowledge of the field and the knower of the field, that knowledge I consider to be true knowledge.”
Commentary
Lord Krishna further reveals to Arjuna that he should recognize Him as the ultimate knower of the field (kshetrajna) present in all fields of existence. He is the supreme consciousness pervading everything and understanding all manifestations of Prakriti and Purusha.
The true knowledge, according to Lord Krishna, lies in understanding the nature of the field (kshetra) and the knower of the field (kshetrajna). It is the knowledge that recognizes the eternal and unchanging self, the soul, as distinct from the ever-changing physical body and the workings of nature. It is through this knowledge that one attains a deep understanding of the field and the knower of the field, leading to self-realization and spiritual growth.
Lord Krishna encourages Arjuna to cultivate the knowledge that distinguishes between the transient physical body and the eternal self, with the goal of attaining liberation and realizing the divine presence within all fields of existence.
