Verse 17-11

अफलाकाङ्क्षिभिर्यज्ञो विधिदृष्टो य इज्यते |

यष्टव्यमेवेति मन: समाधाय स सात्त्विक: || 11 ||

“Of sacrifices, that sacrifice performed according to the scriptural injunctions, with no expectation of reward, with the firm conviction that it is a duty, is considered as in the mode of goodness.”

This verse highlights the characteristic of a Sattvic (mode of goodness) person who performs sacrifices or rituals without desiring any personal gain or reward. Such a person follows the prescribed rules and regulations mentioned in scriptures and performs the sacrifices as a duty, with a selfless and detached attitude.
