“Therefore, the performance of sacrificial acts, charitable deeds, and austerities, as prescribed by the scriptures, is always initiated with the utterance of “Om,” by those who constantly uphold the teachings of Brāhman.”

Commentary

Lord Krishna highlights the significance of the sacred syllable “Om” in the performance of religious rituals, acts of charity, and spiritual practices. “Om” is considered a primordial sound symbolizing the ultimate reality, and its recitation or invocation marks the beginning and sanctification of various religious activities.

Individuals who adhere to the teachings of Brāhman, the ultimate reality or the supreme consciousness, are constantly engaged in performing prescribed acts of worship, giving donations, and practicing self-discipline. These actions are carried out with the awareness and understanding of the spiritual principles and guidelines prescribed in the scriptures.

By invoking “Om” and aligning their actions with the divine principles, such individuals maintain a continuous connection with the higher consciousness and strive to fulfill their religious and spiritual obligations.
