अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन || 2 ||

The Supreme Lord said, “From where has this delusion come upon you at this critical moment? It is not befitting an honorable person; it is the path to degradation, and it does not lead to the higher abodes, O Arjuna.”

Commentary

Sri Krishna, addressed as the Supreme Lord or Shri Bhagavan, questions Arjuna about the origin of his present state of confusion and delusion. Sri Krishna is surprised and concerned about Arjuna’s sudden change in attitude and mindset on the battlefield. He emphasizes that such a state of confusion is unworthy of an honorable person like Arjuna. Sri Krishna highlights that this delusion will lead to a decline in Arjuna’s character and is not conducive to attaining higher realms or heavenly planets.

The devotee in meditation is in a middle-state of realization, where there is neither complete detachment to desires nor complete self-realization. However, he has progressed enough to clearly hear the vibratory voice of God as intuition speaking, “Oh, devotee, why do you succumb to despair? These worldly desires are your formidable foes with a single aim to disrupt your inner peace. Showing compassion towards them is not in line with noble ideals, as it is a weakness that binds you to the limitations of the physical realm, denying you the heavenly bliss of omnipresence.”
