Sanjaya said, “Observing Arjuna’s profound compassion, his mind consumed by sorrow, and his eyes brimming with tears, Lord Krishna spoke the following words.”
Commentary
Sanjaya describes the scene where Lord Krishna observes Arjuna’s emotional state. Arjuna is overwhelmed with pity, deeply saddened in his mind, and his eyes are filled with tears. Sri Krishna, known as the destroyer of the demon Madhu, sees Arjuna in this state of distress and responds.
The devotee, in his inner turmoil, feels regret for the loss of worldly possessions and the enjoyment of the senses due to his intense spiritual discipline. He has made significant progress spiritually but also feels discouraged because he has not found complete happiness within himself. It is in this stage of emotional turmoil that he finally hears the Lord’s compassionate response, providing him with guidance and solace.
