“What the knowers of the Vedas declare as imperishable, whatever the ascetics with disciplined mind enter into, and whatever those desiring liberation practice as celibacy, that ultimate state I shall explain to you briefly.”

Commentary: The knowledgeable scholars who are well-versed in the Vedas proclaim the imperishable reality. The term “aksharam” refers to that which is indestructible, eternal, and beyond the material realm. The Vedas, being ancient scriptures of knowledge, provide insights into an imperishable Truth.

Seekers who practice detachment (Vītarāgāh) have transcended worldly attachments and have entered that state realm of the imperishable. Those who aspire for liberation (moksha) and practice the virtue of celibacy (brahmacharya) in spiritual pursuits, attain that higher state of consciousness and union with the divine.

Lord Krishna is promising to give a concise explanation of the state that is realized by those who have followed different paths and attained that state.
