Verse 9-27

यत्करोषि यदश्नासि यज्जुहोषि ददासि यत् |

यत्तपस्यसि कौन्तेय तत्कुरुष्व मदर्पणम् || 27 ||

Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer in sacrifice, whatever you give, whatever austerity you practice, O Arjuna, do it as an offering to Me.”

Commentary: Lord Krishna instructs Arjuna about the attitude and intention with which one should perform their actions. He encourages Arjuna to offer all his activities, whether it is work, eating, giving, sacrificing, or practicing austerity, as an offering to the Supreme.

Lord Krishna emphasizes that every action can be transformed into an act of devotion and spiritual practice when performed with the consciousness of offering it to the divine. By dedicating our actions to the Supreme, we infuse them with a higher purpose and transcend the limitations of personal desires and ego.

The verse teaches that one should not perform actions with a sense of personal ownership or attachment to the results. Instead, one should cultivate an attitude of surrender and selflessness, considering all actions as offerings to the divine. This practice purifies the mind, eliminates selfish motives, and fosters a sense of unity and devotion towards the Supreme.

Lord Krishna addresses Arjuna as “Kaunteya” (son of Kunti) to emphasize their relationship and to encourage him to align his actions with the divine will. He reminds Arjuna, and by extension all spiritual seekers, to integrate their daily activities with their spiritual journey by offering them to the Supreme.

This verse encourages individuals to perform their duties and responsibilities in a spirit of selflessness and devotion. It reminds us that our actions can be a means of spiritual growth and an expression of love and gratitude towards the Supreme. By offering everything to the divine, we purify our actions and attain a higher state of consciousness.
