“With Your flaming mouths, You are devouring all beings from every side,
Your radiant and blazing faces are illuminating the entire universe.
With Your dazzling radiance, You are filling the entire world,
Your fierce brilliance is scorching, O Vishnu.”

Commentary

Arjuna describes the awe-inspiring sight of Krishna devouring all beings with His fiery mouths and radiating an intense and dazzling light that illuminates the entire universe. Arjuna observes that Krishna’s mouths are devouring all creatures from every direction, symbolizing the universal process of destruction and dissolution. This imagery signifies the all-encompassing nature of time and the cyclical pattern of creation, preservation, and destruction. Arjuna acknowledges the radiant and blazing faces of Krishna, which emit a brilliant light, illuminating the entire cosmos. The effulgence of Krishna’s form is so powerful and resplendent that it fills the entire world, symbolizing the divine presence that permeates all of creation. The intense radiance emanating from Krishna’s form is compared to the scorching heat of the sun, signifying the supreme power and potency of Vishnu, the sustainer and preserver of the universe. The brilliance of Krishna’s form is so fierce and overpowering that it has the potential to consume and purify everything in its path. Krishna is the ultimate source of light, power, and transformation. His divine form evokes a sense of reverence and surrender to the cosmic forces at play, reminding Arjuna of the all-encompassing power and divine manifestation of Lord Vishnu, as Bhagavan Krishna.
