However, Lord Krishna addresses the challenges faced by those who worship the unmanifest, formless aspect of the Divine. He suggests that the path of realizing the impersonal aspect of God, which is omnipresent and imperishable, is more difficult and arduous. It requires transcending the limitations of the physical senses and the attachment to tangible forms. The unmanifested nature of the Divine is beyond ordinary perception and comprehension, making it a challenging path to follow. Such seekers may encounter increased obstacles and difficulties in their spiritual journey.
Praying to the formless aspect may not evoke devotion which is critical in prayer and meditation. Although the unmanifested aspect of God is also true, those who meditate on a form, realize communion with that form and then dissolve that form into the unmanifested aspect, can quickly reach the divine goal. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa prayed to Goddess Durga to reveal Her true nature as formless aspect after he first became one with the divine mother.
Krishna highlights the importance of understanding one’s individual inclination and choosing a suitable path of worship that aligns with one’s temperament and capacity for devotion.
