“Non-attachment, non-identification with the family, spouse, home, and equanimity amidst favorable and unfavorable events”

Commentary

Non-attachment (asakti): It implies maintaining a state of non-attachment towards material possessions, relationships, and outcomes. It involves recognizing that attachment and clinging lead to suffering and this fosters a sense of detachment and inner freedom.

Non-identification with family, spouse, and home: This aspect emphasizes the understanding that our identity is not solely defined by our familial relationships or material possessions. It involves transcending narrow identities and expanding our sense of self to encompass not just family but also all beings.

Equanimity (samachittatvam): It refers to maintaining a balanced and even-minded state of mind, irrespective of favorable or unfavorable circumstances. It involves not being swayed by external events and remaining centered and calm.
