Verse 13-17

अविभक्तं च भूतेषु विभक्तमिव च स्थितम् |

भूतभर्तृ च तज्ज्ञेयं ग्रसिष्णु प्रभविष्णु च || 17 ||

“He remains undivided among beings and yet appears divided. He is the sustainer of beings and should be known as the consumer and creator.”

Commentary: Brāhman, as the ultimate reality, remains undivided and unified amidst the diversity of beings. While appearing as separate and distinct entities from our limited perspective, Brāhman is the underlying source that unifies and sustains all existence.

Brāhman is described as the sustainer of beings, implying that He provides the necessary support and nourishment for the entire creation to exist and thrive. Additionally, He is referred to as the consumer and creator, signifying His role in the cyclical process of creation, preservation, and dissolution. Brāhman consumes and absorbs all forms back into Himself, and from that state of dissolution, He initiates the process of creation anew.

By recognizing Brāhman as the eternal, undivided reality behind the apparent diversity of the world, one gains a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness and unity of all existence. The verse encourages seekers to perceive Brāhman’s presence as both the sustainer and the originator of life, transcending the limitations of the manifested world.
