Verse 13-18

ज्योतिषामपि तज्ज्योतिस्तमस: परमुच्यते |

ज्ञानं ज्ञेयं ज्ञानगम्यं हृदि सर्वस्य विष्ठितम् || 18 ||

“He is the light of lights and is beyond the darkness of ignorance. He is knowledge, the nature of knowledge, and the goal of knowledge. He dwells within the hearts of all living beings.”

Commentary: This verse presents a metaphorical concept using the contrast between light and darkness to illustrate a deeper philosophical idea. It suggests the existence of a light that transcends all other forms of illumination and is referred to as the “light beyond darkness.”

This light surpasses ordinary understanding and extends beyond the limitations of conventional perception. The light being referred to here is beyond the realm of ordinary light and darkness, representing a higher truth or spiritual illumination.

Within all our hearts, there exists inherent knowledge, the objects of knowledge, and the means to acquire knowledge. This implies that the potential for understanding, wisdom, and self-realization resides within each person. By exploring their inner selves and delving into the depths of their consciousness, we can discover profound insights and attain enlightenment.

Moreover, the verse asserts that this light of knowledge resides within the hearts of all beings. It highlights the universal and innate nature of knowledge, suggesting that the source of true understanding is not external but inherent within everyone. By turning inward and accessing this inner light of knowledge, one can attain a deeper understanding of the self and the world. It emphasizes the transformative power of self-realization and the boundless potential for wisdom that resides within every individual.
