Commentary
Lord Krishna explains the right attitude toward activity. To overcome any situation successfully, one cannot continue to act under the influence of old habits. Albert Einstein said a problem cannot be solved at the same level at which it was created. Similarly it is not easy to be relieved from the burden of karma without making certain behavioral changes. These changes are obviously hard to make because the mind has been soaked with the impressions of familiar actions on a daily basis for many years. So it is not easy to follow the teachings of God and saints. However such changes are beneficial and required for any significant improvement.
Lord Krishna says, ‘Unto Me’ (मयि) surrender all your actions. Become free from the suffering (विगतज्वर) of attachment, melancholy, egoism and desire’. Great power can be found abundantly in simplicity. Every aspect of Nature looks simple but very powerful. A small seed has the power to become a huge tree. Similarly, a simple, conscious and heart-felt offering of all actions – before, during and after – to God, can make a tremendous difference over a period of time.
