“I am the strength of the strong, devoid of desire and attachment. I am desire in beings that is not contrary to righteousness, O Arjuna.”
Commentary: Lord Krishna reveals another aspect of His divine nature. He declares Himself as the strength of the strong, indicating that He is the source of power and vitality for those who possess strength and prowess. He is the underlying force that empowers individuals to manifest their physical, mental, and spiritual strength.
Lord Krishna further states that He is devoid of desire and attachment (kama-raga-vivarjitam). Unlike ordinary beings who are driven by desires and attachments, He remains unaffected and untouched by worldly desires. His consciousness is beyond the realm of material desires, and He is free from any personal attachment or selfish motives.
However, He also mentions that He is desire (kama) that is aligned to righteousness (dharma). Here, desire refers to the natural inclinations and aspirations present in living beings, that are in harmony with noble and moral principles. Such desires, aligned with dharma, propel individuals towards righteous actions, spiritual growth, and the fulfillment of their higher purpose.
Lord Krishna is the wellspring of strength and guiding force for righteous aspirations inspiring individuals to align actions and desires with dharma.
