अश्रद्दधाना: पुरुषा धर्मस्यास्य परन्तप | अप्राप्य मां निवर्तन्ते मृत्युसंसारवर्त्मनि || 3 || |
---|
Commentary:
In this verse, Lord Krishna addresses Arjuna as “Parantapa,” meaning “scorcher of foes” or “one who punishes enemies.” He is highlighting Arjuna’s prowess and his role as a warrior on the battlefield. He proceeds to explain the consequence faced by individuals who lack faith in the divine and fail to realize their spiritual nature.
Lord Krishna refers to such individuals as “ashraddhadhana,” meaning those who lack faith or have a wavering faith. Such individuals continue to wander in the cycle of birth and death, known as samsara. They are trapped in the continuous cycle of reincarnation, subject to the pains and limitations of mortal existence.
The verse implies that faith and a sincere spiritual connection are essential for attaining liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
