Verse 1

The Supreme Lord said:

“As you listen without any resentment, I shall now impart to you this most confidential knowledge. This knowledge, combined with realization, will free you from all miseries.”

Verse 2

“This royal knowledge, the royal secret, the supreme purifier, directly apprehensible, righteous, and imperishable, is capable of bringing profound joy.”

Verse 3

“O scorcher of foes, those who are devoid of faith, being unable to reach me, they return to the path of death and rebirth.”

Verse 4

“This entire universe is pervaded by Me, in My unmanifested form. All beings exist in Me, but I am not situated in them.”

Verse 5

"Look at My Divine Yoga, where the entire creation does not apparently dwell in Me and although I am the Sustainer of all living beings, I do not seem to dwell in them."

Verse 6

"Just as the mighty wind, present everywhere, rests within space, similarly understand that all beings rest in Me."

Verse 7

Verse 8

"All beings, O Arjuna, enter into My Prakriti at the end of a cycle, and I create them again at the beginning of another cycle.”

“Under My control, again and again, Prakriti brings forth all living beings, who are helpless and bound by Her."

Verse 9

“O conqueror of wealth, actions do not bind Me. I remain impartial and neutral, ever detached from these actions.”

Verse 10

"Under My supervision, Prakriti (Nature) manifests and revolves the whole universe, with all its moving and non-moving beings. O Kaunteya (Arjuna), this is the reason for the perpetual cycle of creation and dissolution in the world."

Verse 11

"Deluded by the external appearances of my human form, foolish people disregard Me, who is of transcendental nature and the supreme controller of all beings."

Verse 12

"Those with deluded minds, engaged in futile actions and possessing misguided knowledge, take shelter in the asuric (demonic) nature, which bewilders them."

Verse 13

"But the noble souls, O Partha, take refuge in My divine nature. They worship Me with unwavering devotion, knowing Me as the eternal source of all beings."

Verse 14

"Constantly extolling Me, striving with determination, possessing unwavering vows, prostrating before me with devotion, they constantly worship Me."

Verse 15

"Others, through the sacrifice of knowledge, worship me and contemplate me as the One, as separate, and as the all-pervading universal form."

Verse 16

“I am the ritual, I am the sacrifice, I am the offering to ancestors, I am the medicinal herb.

I am the mantra, I am the clarified butter, I am the fire, and I am the offering.”

Verse 17

“I am the father to this world, the mother, the support, and the grandparent.

I am the Vedas, the purifier, the syllable Om, the Rig Veda, the Sama Veda, and the Yajur Veda."

Verse 18

"I am the goal, the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge, and the true friend. I am the origin, the dissolution, the resting place, the eternal seed."

Verse 19

"I give heat, and I withhold and send forth the rain. I am immortality as well as death, O Arjuna. I am being and non-being."

Verse 20

"Those who are knowledgeable in the three Vedas, who drink the soma juice, who are purified of their sins, and who desire to attain heaven, worship me through sacrifices. They reach the heavenly planets and enjoy divine pleasures there."

Verse 21

"After enjoying the vast heavenly realm, those who have exhausted their merits in the mortal world return to the mortal plane. Thus, those who are driven by desires for material pleasures, following the path of the three Vedas, repeatedly come and go in this cycle."

Verse 22

"To those who constantly think of Me, who engage in exclusive devotion and worship, I personally take care of their well-being and preserve what they have."

Verse 23

"Even those who, with faith, worship other gods, they also, O Arjuna, worship Me alone, though following the wrong method."

Verse 24

"I am indeed the enjoyer and the Lord of all sacrifices, but those who do not know Me in truth fall into ignorance."

Verse 25

"Those who worship the demigods will reach the realm of the demigods, those who worship the ancestors will reach the realm of the ancestors, and those who worship Me will reach My abode."

Verse 26

"Whoever offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, I accept it with love and devotion."

Verse 27

Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer in sacrifice, whatever you give, whatever austerity you practice, O Arjuna, do it as an offering to Me."

Verse 28

"With a mind dedicated to the yoga of renunciation, and through the discipline of knowledge, you will free yourself from the bondage of karma, and come to Me."

Verse 29

"I am impartial towards all beings; I have no hatred or favoritism. But those who worship Me with devotion, they are in Me and I am in them."

Verse 30

"Even if someone of extremely wicked conduct worships Me with exclusive devotion, he should be considered righteous, for he has resolved rightly."

Verse 31

"He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace. O Arjuna, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes."

Verse 32

"O Partha, those who take refuge in Me, even if they be of sinful birth—women, merchants, as well as laborers—can also attain the supreme destination."

Verse 33

"How much more so, the righteous brahmanas, devoted rulers, and saintly seers! Having attained this temporary, joyless world, engage in My devotion."

Verse 34

"Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me, and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend."
